Choosing the Right Outsert: What’s Available & Why It Matters
Avon Protection’s outserts are attachable lens covers for our gas masks, like our C50, PC50, or FM54. They protect the main air purifying respirator (APR) visor, improve certain visual characteristics, and some of the outsert options can improve ballistic protection. As most are situational or mission specific - we’ve provided a breakdown of the outserts available in our Shop - what each does, and when you’d want to use them. This outsert is great for the wearer who wants to protect their kit. Its job is to protect the main visor from scratches, abrasions, debris, and wear. Using this from the start helps maintain the long lifespan of your gas mask. Good for general field use where protection against physical damage is important.

Designed for environments with high UV exposure or intense glare (bright outdoor operations, desert, snow, etc.). This outsert helps filter UV, reduces glare, and also reduces how much the wearer’s eyes are visible.

Similar use case to the Sunlight Outsert, but with a reflective mirror finish. This outsert offers UV protection, plus improved contrast and depth perception by increasing contrast and reducing glare in certain lighting. It also serves to obscure the wearer’s eyes and eyes and reflect the environment or surroundings instead. Useful in tactical or crowd control situations where concealment or visual effect matters.

This outsert filters out light wavelengths (especially blue light) - for a more comprehensive list, visit the product datasheet. It also helps reduce glare, eye strain, and enhance clarity for weapon sighting or precision tasks. It’s a good choice for longer operations, especially where visual clarity is key in dynamic lighting.

This outsert protects against harmful laser wavelengths commonly produced by laser aiming devices or handheld lasers. Useful in situations involving laser designators, pointers, or threats.
